One of only four monastic seats founded by Adi Shankaracharya, tucked into a quiet backstreet a short ride from the Jagannath Temple crowds. There is no queue and nothing to see in a rush — the reason to come is the quiet itself, plus the Vimala shrine inside the grounds, one of the 51 Shakti Peethas. Best folded into an evening that ends at Swargadwar for the Samudra Arati.
